FREE Taster sessions at Queen Mary University - Maths, Law, Geography, Business, Economics

For Year 12 Students

Queen Mary University are hosting a variety of taster sessions for students from their partner colleges. Each session starts at 1.30pm and will include a Taster Lecture, a talk about studying the subject at university and a tour of the campus. The day will finish at approximately 3.30pm. These tasters will be of use to students thinking of studying the subjects at University. Subjects and dates are:

29th February - MATHS - deadline to book is 8th February

7th March - GEOGRAPHY & BUSINESS - deadline to book is 15th February

14th March - ECONOMICS - deadline to book is 22nd February

21st March - LAW - deadline to book is 29th February

You need to book yourself online entering a username and password. Go to www.qmul.ac.uk/partnerships. Username is: student, password is: partner, when you are logged in click on the link 'sign in to students' section' and complete the online form. You can enter HE Office as the contact name at the bottom of the form. You will receive confirmation of whether or not you have secured a place. Once you receive confirmation of a place, you will need to complete a college absence form in the normal way. NOTE: Once you have booked you will need to attend, so please do not book until you are certain you can go.

Every year students attend free taster courses organised by the University of London. These courses provide valuable insight into studying a wide range of subjects at universities across London. Information regarding the courses including the online application form is available at www.london.ac.uk/tasters. You can also find them on facebook www.facebook.com/tastercourses for more information. Courses are held between February and August but you need to book early to avoid disappointment.

Points to remember when replying to your offers

· Try to attend open days or visits before you decide, but remember to reply by your deadline.

· Think carefully before you decide which offers to accept because once you accept an offer, including an insurance offer, you are committed to that course (or courses).

· You can reply to offers without waiting to hear back from all your choices. You can cancel all outstanding decisions and reply to the offers that you have received using Track. But you must be certain about which offers you wish to accept, as once you have made your replies you will not be able to reverse any withdrawals.

Further information on how and when to reply to your offers can be found on the Higher Education page on Moodle or at www.ucas.ac.uk/students/offers. It is recommended that you read the information before making any decisions.

The second year BTEC Level 3 art class are just completing an animation project and need an audience to show their cartoons too. There will be 14 short cartoons and you will be asked to fill in a short questionnaire at the end of each one.

The showing will start at 10.30 on Wednesday 18th January in room 117 in Drapers and will take about half an hour. All staff and students welcome. First come first served.
